Probably this is the only roundabout in Albania which is this big and almost free of cars. Certainly, is the one closest to the sea. This rather ambiguous situation creates a break between space and time, opening up to the horizon of the sea. What once used to be a belt of local pine trees, now has turned into a series of small forest islands. Thus, what we propose is reminiscent of the latter. Reexperiencing a nostalgic feeling for the elders or a sublime one for the young. By planting extensively, the green patches around the roundabout with local flora, we create the conditions for life to thrive. Of centered are 6 wild pine trees which define the landscape. What if we interrupt the landscape opening to the horizon with a series of white curtains encircling the pines? Now space and time rejoin and the curtains play hide and seek with the with the wind and sea. Comprised by 42 three meters galvanized posts, the pavilion is a simple structure linked on top by steel cables to hang the curtains. The curtains are made out of recycled plastic, woven in a plain sheer fabric thus making them weather and fire resistant, yet light and delicate. In winter when the wind is strong, the curtains can be drawed in each post, resembling a rather ancient structure. Beside the pine trees an amphitheater is thought as a meditation space where one can watch a show with the sea as a background. It is a prose to the Mediterranean condition.
