The Holiday House is located on the ridge of Hamallaj Hill, offering sweeping views of the Adriatic Sea and the agricultural plains to the south. Originally built using the dom-ino structural system, the house was partially damaged by the 2019 earthquake, necessitating a precise and costly retrofit. The existing skeleton needed reinforcement, including additional interior columns to ensure structural stability. The design proposal involves constructing a perimetral structural wall to strengthen the building and reduce the weight of the upper floor. This approach not only enhances the structure’s integrity but also transforms the architectural appearance of the house. A continuous window wraps around the second floor, allowing rooms to open up to the stunning sea views while loggias connect the interior with the agricultural landscape. To manage privacy and lighting, textile blinders have been integrated into the transparent sections of the building. These adjustable blinders control the level of light entering the interior and provide privacy as needed, offering flexibility to the occupants. The result is a blend of robust structural support and thoughtful design, ensuring that the Holiday House remains resilient while maximizing its connection to the natural surroundings. The house is now a secure, functional, and aesthetically refined retreat.
